Hi guy, I'm new in the community, I have a honda actry truck, 5 speed 4WD with A/C for a year already, the A/C was working perfectly, freezing cold, untill 2 or 3 days ago, I thought that maybe needed to be charge and I added a bottle of the R134 but then I realized that the problem wasn't that cuz every time that I start the truck on cold the A/C works perfectly for 4-5-10 minutes and then the compressor shut off and it won't kick on again. Any suggestions? Someone have experienced the same? What should I do?
Check the filter on the unit under the driver seat. Mine was super plugged. When I touched it it crumbled and decinigrated. Cleaned the old filter frame of all the old crap and hot glued a thin layer of polyester batting (the stuff they sell for quilting, I use it for aquarium filter floss.) Another thing I noticed was the drain hose was plugged and causing the evaporator coil to flood up and cover enough of the coils preventing ac to work properly. Just go under the driver side and look for a short rubber line that is pinched closed on the end to prevent insects from coming in and and give it a few good squeezes in different directions until the crud all comes out. Mine was dripping but not fast enough to keep up with the condensation until I milked that hose like a cow udder.
Also make sure you didn't put in too much refrigerant. If so let some out so you don't damage the system.
Hey, thanks for the respond, I had cleaned all the area under the seat because there's none filter left and all the dust was stocked in the little radiator. I cleaned the drain hose but it wasn't that bad, at the end I noticed that my problem was or is the A/C fuse under the steering wheel, for some reason is not making good conection and I'm working on it.
Sometimes fuses act funny when they get hot from the current flowing through them. I could be opening up. Have you tried swapping to a known good fuse? Make sure it is the correct rating it calls for also. Don't want to swap a fuse that is too high amps if the previous owner put the wrong one in.
