I built a portable unloading ramp so I could unload trucks at my farm without building a permanent ramp. It is made from a 16' metal flatbed with 10" + I beams, it has a single trailer axle so it can be moved around. It is the standard unloading height of 54", if I remember right, when set up. I found a couple of pictures of my first shipment. I have added a swing down ramp on the rear, and the axle since these pictures were taken. When I resized them for the website they came out a little small.

That's a briliant idea for unloading. Wow, simple, yet works well and can be moved around. Great idea!

Did you have any issues with the angle and the trucks underside rubbing against the ramp?

16' long plus 2' ramp for total of 18'.

I'm guessing on how wide, but around 8.5'

No. The trucks come off w/o any issues.

I'd like to try and build one, can you get some more detailed pics on how you pu t it together? We have to kiss *** and beg the use of loading dock so if I can build on of these things that would be awesome.

The biggest piece of the ramp is a 16' metal bed. That is were you need to start. If you aren't able to buy scrap, this could get expensive in a hurry. Mine came off a hay truck. Tubing for legs has to be bought in 20' stick at about $6.00/ft and you need two different sizes. Materials to build new is over $2K not including labor. Thanks again for the free mobile ramp and the 2 $300 beers. We just unloaded many parts and trucks on Friday morning and it worked out just as we thought it would. We're already talking about adding a jack to alleviate the BobCat.

It's exactly what we needed.

should look to see if you can make something like that and get it classified as permanently mounted equipment. air compressors and light plants etc here don't need lights or plates cause of that law. had a hydraulic spooler on a trailer like that and all we needed was lights cause of the size of it.

It was great to meet you both. That $300 beer taste better, although the 3rd & 4th beer would have been free! I guess you made it back and got it unloaded w/o any issues.
