I am working on an offroad truck project and am needing to locate a regular cab (Just the cab, not the entire truck), or possibly a non-functional truck that is reasonably priced. I will not be using anything except the cab for this project.

I am in the Seattle, Washington area, but I can travel out of the state to get the right cab.

Anyone with any suggestions or leads, please let me know. I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,
Damon

Your best bet is to find an inoperable truck, as these trucks are unibody.

They aren't all unibody, are they? We have 2wd mini trucks at work, and they have framerails that the cab bolts to. Unfortunately I work for Boeing, and trying to buy surplus from Boeing has gotten much harder to do lately.

Thanks for the tip, though.

What particular brand / model of cab are you looking for?

Care to share any details of your project? I'm thinking you're building a 'crewcab', one with REAL doors instead of a slider like a deck van.

That would be a cool project, especially if you could extend the overall length - and have the full-size box too.

I don't have any particular make/model in mind. They all seem pretty similar in shape and layout. I will just fabricate off whatever I end up with. Beggers can't be choosers...

I'm planning on taking a mildly built Suzuki Samurai and removing the body, swapping in Toyota steering axles and sliding the engine as far back as possible and grafting on a mini-truck cab over the front axle. I'm going to use hydraulic steering on both axles and run the engine off propane. I want a mini-truck cab because of the superior driver field of vision, and I really like the narrowness of the cab design. I'll bend up some tube and make a exo-cage around the outside of the cab and rear engine area, with some tool storage area behind the engine.

It's an idea I've been mulling over for quite a while, but I am just now beginning to gather the necessary parts together. The cab is the rarest item, so I'm trying to get the feelers out now to locate one. I've got the shop and welding/fabrication equipment to do it, I just need to get all my parts together before I start wading into it. I've tackled projects like this before, and I hate getting started without at least getting together most of what I'll need. There's always enough unforseen surprises without making things worse by being unprepared.

Thanks for helping me out here, I really like what you guys are doing with your trucks. I wish I had gotten into these years ago.
