I found this site and need some help. I have a large farming opeation and already have a mule but it has been somewhat of a headache for me and I think a mini truck would fit my operation great.
I found a 1999 stock hi-jet with 38000 miles (not kms) selectible 4x4 not for sure on diff. A/C and P/S. Looks like it is in great shape but I have not seen it in person. Just wondering what you all thought.
Also how is the governor setup on these trucks because 25mph just not going to cut it farm to farm. THANKS
Price: 5900.00

As it is a 1999, it should have fuel injection. Generally, I believe that the speed limitation is achieved by a plate welded to the transmission that limits what gear you can drive in. Price sounds perhaps a smidge high but in the ballpark. Others more "in the market" might have a better perspective on this than me.

Price is a little high, but not too bad.

I paid $5500 for 99 HiJet w/27K miles. No AC/PS or difflock. I would rate it as excellent condition compared to some I have looked at. My still has the OEM tires on it. Alot depends on the condition IMO.

I called the guy the guy today and he told me the news. He said last week during a ice storm a branch broke off and broke the passenger side mirror and put a dent in the top of it. His price like it is 5000.00. How much is a mirror for one of these trucks. The dent isn't a big deal with me because there will be plenty more here on the farm.
Im going this weekend to look at it in person I think im going to buy it if its not a painted rust bucket.
Is the diff lock a big deal or not? Will ATV rims work on these trucks if so what type? THANKS AGAIN

Diff lock is something that I've never really noticed as making much of a difference to be honest with ya. As far as rims and tires you might have trouble finding some nice 4/100 rims

The price is a bit steep, but don't worry about the speed. They are much faster. They are not approved for highway use in most states, however. My only problem has been with CV joint on front of my 1994 Hijet...but I love the thing and treat it rough. It carrys a big welding machine, gas bottles and tools through almost anything. I never get stuck unless I high center on a stump.
I bought mine for $3500.00 in Mississippi and use it daily. J. Pat in Texas

I am suprised people are saying a 1999 Mini Truck for $5,900 is high. When you take in consideration the cost from Japan + Shipping + Carrying Costs, doesn't leave much profit margin. All the trucks 1999 and newer jump in price because of the new design (i.e. EFI). I would think that is a fair price.

Looks like a pretty good deal to me for the year of truck. I saw some older trucks with out any mods for about that same price.

x2... but it wouldnt matter if it was $2000, there would be someone who knows a guy, who got one cheaper and it was like new... everything has a story behind it... if its in good shape, minus the tree damage, i say get it... you wont regret spending good money to get something nice...

I forgot to add jpatb who got his for $3,500 now that was a deal. Any dealer on here would be hard pressed to get one at that price.

I bought mine for 3500, but it is a 94 and no extras. I have had it 3 years and there has been a devaluation of the dollar against the japanese yen. This increased the cost plus the fact that the Japanese have recognized they can get more for their trucks at auction in Japan. The last factor is that the truck is 5 years newer with more improvements. I would pay about $5000 for that truck all things considered...even more with more features. J. .Pat

Yeah, the complete collapse in the value of the dollar has made them more expensive, that's for sure. My last shipment the yen was at 114.00 per dollar now it's at 107.00, that my not sound like a bunch but it is.:(

I agree there is always someone who says thay got a mini truck for pennies on the dollar. The money is not bad for a 99 or newer truck. Try G&R imports for a mirror and use the search feature on the site for a whole lot more information and entertainment than you might want!
