I am new to the mini truck world, but i have been researching for about six months. I was just wondering what the best and most dependable truck is. I am looking for something to trail ride, deer and duck hunt, and use for light farm work. I know there will be different opinions but i hope i learn something.
I just want to make an educated decision. I know i want a/c because we have a newborn (four total kids, all girls) so my wife could drive the mini and keep the baby in comfort during the summer. I would also like p/s and an aftermarket dumpbed, camo, winch, etc. Any knowledge and suggestions or advice will surely be appreciated. Thanks

All the trucks are great. Finding one with the options you want will be the hardest part, you probably already figured that out. There is a guy up here in shelbyville, TN that had trucks, Im not sure if he does anymore. The place is called Bobs Used Tractors. Probably stick with the Suzuki, Mitsubishi, Daihatsu for the uses you need.

Welcome and Hope you find what you are looking for.

Thanks for the info. I found a 1999 Mitsubishi with an automatic tranny today.
What do you think about the auto's.

Haven't driven an auto mini. Auto's are nice but I usually stay away from them on low powered vehicles like these trucks. One thing i forgot to mention is Hi/Low range. This is a must if your planning on going with larger offroad tires or a lift. If the auto has Hi/Lo I would consider it because of the conveinience. Def have to drive it first though.

Thanks Greg. I just got through all 23 pages of your project truck.
Nice job! That is bad! I live close to huntsville, al. Maybe someday i can
see it in person.

Unless your planning to drive solely on the road I would avoid an automatic and get a manual with high/low range

I would agree with the above post. I've never had a very good experience driving an auto in a vehicle with little power. Just my $.02

Auto tranny is junk and you cant afford the parts much less find anything if it flies apart.
Manual is the only way to go.

Thanks guys for the help. I have been on the net and telephone for about 6 hours today and about 8-9 yesterday inquiring about mini trucks! I have got the fever! Went on a road trip today on tip that didn't pan out. I did how ever talk to some dealers w/inventory and new shipments coming and a few of them look very promising! So maybe in a few weeks or so i will be a proud new owner. Prices are a little high but i'll be getting what i want. On another note have yall ever been to Intermountain mini trucks website? (www.intermountainminitrucks.com) Yall need to check it out especially you Greg. The have a mini that looks like it is v8-ed. Pretty cool!

Thats pretty sweet. Not sure what make it is but at first glance it looks like a v8 but I'm pretty sure its just a 3 cyl. Cool none the less.

Wildman... just my .02 cents... I wouldn't transport a baby in one of these trucks. They offer very little in the way of crash protection...

We won't be on paved roads. We have a farm on the river and it joins our hunting club. We camp and ride there alot. About 3000 acres. Most of it is well maintained dirt roads and we don't take the kids thru the really bad stuff. Our kids love it as much as we do and we go about every weekend when its not hunting season. Thanks for your concern and input.

Good to hear wild :) For what it's worth I agree with miniman, stick with a standard if you are off road more than just a little bit.

I new in to the truck and the transport field, but my father is in this field from 10 years. So i know some things in the truck company the Japanese company has his one hand owner in this field. The condition and the facilities are provided in to this are very good. This is very good that not only Korea or China but other countries are also included in this field of manufacturer of the trucks.
