Thanks for opening this forum. I bought a 95 Dihatsu a year ago and have taken it on some challanging terain in the Colorado mountains. With a passenger, the suspension bottoms out on rough terrain. Can I put stiffer strut on to prevent this problem ( what kind of strut ).
Thanks
Bill:
Yes, you can. Daihatsu struts don't seem as robust as the other makes and tend to wear out and bottom out regularly. You can replace the factory Daihatsu struts with some used Mitsubishi struts, which are heavier-duty. You will have to figure-8 or "waller out" the three tower mount bolt holes in the Daihatsu body to match the Mitsubishi bolts which are almost, but not quite, the same. It's the same amount of work as replacing with originals except for the quick and easy hole situation. The Mitsubishi struts will also be slightly taller and provide more throw. We've done a couple of these on 1990 Daihatsu's and they work great. Got the parts from Derik at G&R when I drove by one day back in January.
Thanks
