Reservoir of Liquid on Right Side of Dashboard

I just discovered that there is a removable cover on the right side of the dashboard and below it a capped reservoir of liquid. What is this?

On mine the ((!)) light comes on when the fluid is low and when the parking brake is on.

I have no warning lights at all, and no fuel or temp gauge. Now that I have lights, horn, and wipers again, I will turn to these other electrical problems.

Thanks. There is some kind of little float on top of the liquid.

That little float on top keeps the fluid from "splashing" around in the master cylinder, and picking up air to be sucked into the system.
