View Full Version : Front bumper for 91 Mitsubishi
Well I was going to mount a winch behind the front plastic bumper, but it appears that is the air intake for the heater... So back to the drawing board. Anybody have pictures of front bumpers they built for theirs or how they mounted the winch on the front?

I'm working on mine today. I used 2x2 angle iron under the air intake and cut the hood over the intake so I could put short pieces of angle iron on both sides of the intake. Then on the inside of the cab I braced those short pieces to the floor of the cab. Under that I put a 2x2 box piece bolted between the frame rails. I'm bolting a receiver style adaptor i got from Northern tool onto the angle iron so the winch can be moved to the mounting point in the bed of the truck as well. It's the short receiver that would bolt to a step and tow bumper on a full size truck. I didn't want a permanent winch up front because I've biffed of the nose/bumper many times while wheeling it. I didn't want o mangle a winch or the nose.
My whole mount system should fit in a hole in the bumper that I'm cutting out where the front license plate would go. I've got to go and grab my welder back from the real owner and get zappin today!
Snap some pictures as you go so I can see what you got... thanks :)

I'll be taking pics as I go, but thursday went poorly. I had an attempted beak-in at the house so I spent the day fixing things and securing all entrances.
My solenoids for the winch came in today, so that's a plus. I'll take plent of pics as i do the mounts front and rear.
