I have had a Hijet deck van for a year now and now I hear a bill has passed in Louisiana to make Kei trucks street legal (not on interstates thou).

Now that I might be able to drive it on the streets how hard would it be to swap the speedo for an aftermarket mph one or is there a different gauge face that I can put on it?

My Hijet is a 95 660cc 5 speed 4x4 LHD with out a limiter

My friend swapped out his guage cluster for a complete new one. He used Autometer mechanical guages, and swore the square end cable clipped right in to the new speedometer guage. Come to think about it, most Japanese cars that I've taken the dash apart have looked very similiar.

it wouldnt be bad if they had both like us in canada (mph and kmph). after driving in the states so much, i just know 100km - 65m 80km - 50m etc.
