has anyone had trouble with a flat spot at low RPM . it seems lean , once you get past it the motor revs fine.

Nope, mine has been just the opposite. Mine has been running a bit too rich. The air filters came in yesterday, and I finally replaced the very nasty looking old one, so hopefully this will help.

anyone have any tune up specs? Might rebuild carb also if I can find a kit. As you can see I will hve many questions. I can rebuild just about any american car, but I am at a loss as to any of the parts for it. Any help would be appreciated. Hopefully I can return the favor. Thanks again

You may be able to secure a carb kit through one of the vendors in www.daihatsuhelp.com. They support U.S. spec Hijets. Presumably, the engines are pretty much identical for any given year on up to '96, which was when Daihatsu quit importing kei trucks stateside.
