I have a 1998 Carry. We went through a substantial cold snap over the past weekend where the temp was -5 with -30 to -40 windchills. I went out the other morning to start and warm-up the truck. She was pretty hard starting due to sitting in the cold, but finally did. I went back in for about 10-15 minutes then returned outside to move my full size out of the way to clean-up snow. After I did this, I heard a high-pitched whining sound coming from the motor on the Carry. Best way to descibe this would be to imagine a power steering pump running completely dry. As I walked back towards the truck, I saw antifreeze spilling down from the front of the motor itself.
I havent had a chance to pull the truck into the garage yet to diagnose this but I'm wondering if this sounds like the water pump failed to anyone that has been through this before or??? The truck was still running when this happened and I immediately shut it off. I'm hoping this is not worst-case scenario.
:pop:
TIA for the experienced help.
