View Full Version : thinking about getting a honda
Hey all,
I'm thinking about switching to a Honda from my Subaru.
What fuel economy are you all getting with yours?
One guy said he got 37mpg with his.

Hey Josh
Mine is getting on average about 31mpg so far. Have been hauling feed in mine a lot here lately. Plus the wind has been blowing hard down here so that cuts down on the milage to. How many mile dow your Sub have?

About 35 is average if everything is clean and running well. Honda is a very good truck. Biggest problem that most of my customers have is that it is full time 4wd. Hope that helps.

My subaru has 97,000+km on it at the moment.
I am test driving a Diahatsu Hijet 2004 model that I am impressed with. I just averaged over 38mpg driving in city and 90kmh on highway (no winds).
I'll keep you all posted.
(the dealer didn't have a late model Honda for me to compare)

Is that a twin cam your testing? The twin cams are nice little motors.

No, it isn't a twim cam that I'm aware of. It seems like a very quiet, yet powerful engine though.

Are you going to keep your Sub if you get a Honda? I would love to get a extened cab Subaru. I wonder how come Honda does not make one.
No, I'd be trading in my subaru. Doesn't get good enough fuel economy for on-road use. It'll make someone else a good hunting truck/off-road.

Neither does Subaru, the only *extended* cab is the Diahatsu Jumbo.
All others are one offs that are custom built, if you have seen one then this is the route the owner/ dealer took.

The truck in my avatar is a EX cab Subaru that we did custom. We make Ex cabs out of all the models. Like the above stated only Daihatsu make a factory Ex cab and it is not much of one.

Back to the question, I've seen 45 with my Acty Attack, but it averages closer to 32 around town.
If I am driving in town (<60 kph) I get close to 38 mpg average. Over 60 kph, the milage goes down. My trips to Alberta Beach on the highway I get 25 mpg (95 to 105 kph).
