What company builds the best truck? I have seen a lot of Suzukis and Mitsubishis for sale. Also, I heve seen fewer Hondas and Mazdas for sale? Is one mfg. desired more in Japan than another?

It's really hard to say which model of truck is the best. Each have their stengths and weaknesses. Some are mid-engine and others are rear-engine. Some are 3 cylinder and some are 4. Some have all-time (or real-time) 4 wheel drive, some allow the driver to select between 2wd and 4wd, and some are just 2wd.
I have a 1993 Honda Acty Attack. It is a rear-engine with a 3-cyl, 660cc engine. It has realtime 4wd, which means it operates in 2wd unless wheels start slipping, then it engages the other wheels automatically. It has independent front suspension and an axle in the rear. It does not have a dump bed or air conditioning, but a very good heater. I feel okay driving it 55mph; any faster and it feels like the engine is reving too much.
I can't speak for other models, but maybe you could ask other owners the ups and downs about their mini truck. It's no doubt that one truck may be better suited for a particular need than another one. So, is there one truck that is the best suited for all scenarios? Who knows, but after some minor modification, you can just about make any one of these little trucks robust enough to handle almost anything.
I'm quite pleased with the Honda. I've only owned it for a few months, but the only thing I wish could be different about it is the dump bed situation. However, this one has really low km's and I didn't want to pass it up or wait for one with a dump bed. Perhaps one day I'll look at modifying it to accept a dump, or just buy another truck that already has one.
