Hi, I am going to look at a honda 1989 mini today, the owner says it is 4wd, ran great until some head/engine problems came up. sent to the local mechanic, started then had more problems, sent back to mechanic. Anyway, the head is off and it will be a project. Supposedly everything else is in good original condition. Are used engines available for this truck and how much would they cost? Also, what do you guys think this truck is worth. I would give more details, but I don't know them yet.
Thanks,

Find out the engine model and hit up a couple of dealers for pricing and availablility. I'd say it should be worth no more than a couple grand.

When you're negotiating price, don't just factor in the cost of repairing the engine. Think of it as an Acty without an engine, because that's what it is.
I agree with the previous post. $2000 tops if everything else is in good original condition.

got a pretty good deal on it. story is that originally the timing belt broke and crashed the valves. After recon head put on ran a little while -then the cam gear went to pieces. Supplier said that a weep hole should have been bored out and that is what caused the cam problems. Anybody here gone down this road?
Thanks,
kevin

Hi, my neighbor has an 89 Honda Mini with the HA4, he had the same problem. The timing belt broke and bent hte values. He got a head from G and R Import. His reconditioned head did the same thing. It broke the cam gear pully off. Call G and R Import they took care of him. Thanks.
