Has anyone here actually rebuilt a carb on a mini truck?
I want to do it, but i can not find a carb rebuild kit for my 91 Honda acty, and i'm in desperate need of a rebuild/rejet of the carb.
Any info would be great!

I'm in the same boat as you. Putting up with crappy idle untill I get the courage up to mess with it.

Have you tried contacting any of our Japan based members? They might be able to help.

I haven't as of yet. I'm currently smack dab in the middle of remodelling my house. The F150 is dead, and I need this truck to be running, even if it is running badly.

I have checked on rebuild kits for other vehicles over here, but unfortunately I haven't found any kits..just exploded diagrams of carb parts. You must order every piece individually. Many companies are discontinuing parts at the 15-20 year mark. Unless a newer version has the same part, tough.
Like I said on another post, some fellows are swapping to bike carbs. One popular choice is the 883 Harley carb. Haven't put one on yet, but I have a similiar one.

Well, i am getting ready to take mine apart in a few days, and i'm hoping to re-jet it, as it is running very VERY rich. I hope to take the jets to a motorbike dealer, and see if i can find a smaller number, i thinks jets are fairly universal. That and just clean the carb.

As for using a motorbike carb, it sounds like a good idea, but you would loose your auto choke, and have to rig up a cab mounted choke. Shy from that, it would be sweet. Has anyone on this forum actually used a motorbike carb?

We sell them. Contact my parts manager Keith at keith@keiparts.com and he can fix you right up. He is also the best mini truck mechanic that I know.

Yes keiparts.com will be selling parts. The web site will be up in January.

My friend who sold me the carb has one on his. Runs pretty well.
I forget the rest of the world doesn't live on a sub-tropical island and endure 70 degree winters...sorry. We rough it out without chokes as best we can :D

Cory,

What components are included in your carb rebuild kits? Are they available for all makes of mini trucks? What is the price for the kits?

Thanks!

Crossroads Import (or keiparts.com) was not able to locate a rebuild kit for a 92 Suzuki. He offered a new one for over $1000.00 ...or a used one for $300.00, but there is no reason to believe that it would be in any better shape than what I currently have.

Don-in-Japan has a good point about 15+ year old truck parts. Some of the unique parts (like carb parts) may be next to impossible to find. Interchanges for these parts will be very useful if replacement parts can't be found.
