Hey all,
I've been asked about how we buy at auctions and if people can see what is for sale at those auctions. We have an customized auction site exclusive for our clients (or potential clients) to use. This auction site lists ALL the auctions we bid at and include USS, JU, KCAA, CAA, NAA, SAA, TAA, Hiro, Arai, Bay Auc, and HAA auctions throughout Japan. We don't just stick to a couple of auctions, we go for them all!
We don't just give out membership to this site because each client can use their membership access to send us their bids and discuss what they are looking at. The site is in English, and is easy to navigate. Because you can set the search filters for looking for a specific model, year, condition or even option like a/c or power steering, its a powerful tool.
We can bid at 53 nationwide auctions and since we're in Nagoya, we're in central Japan. What this means is we bid at all the major auctions from Tokyo, Yokohama areas, Nagoya, Osaka, Kobe and the rural auctions where there are lots of mini trucks and the inland transport to us is reasonable.
Our main focus is mini trucks. We paint and do body repair, mechanical work, swap engines (not too difficult), install speed limiters and deal in parts for mini trucks. We are currently shipping out a lot of trucks, many of them painted. The clients who have received painted trucks are really happy with the quality of the paint jobs. If there are bumps and dents, we take pictures and show the client before doing any work. No hiding anything!
We load containers on-site. In fact we do the painting and mechanical on-site as well. Our main office and yard are in two different places. We bid and do our admin work (where my big comfy chair is) at our new office that was purpose built with an apartment on the first floor (for visiting clients...or my mother-in-law:) )and the office is on the second floor. We place all our bids from this office. In fact, it was just opened in September and was built by Toyota Homes (owned by Toyota Motor Co.!!!).
Our yard is about a 20 minute drive closer to the port. Joel, our mini truck sales manager from Minnesota, works mostly from there. He oversees everything from repairing, truck intake and container loading. He's my right-hand man. When you see pictures of our trucks, they're all at this yard.
We just had a client visit (I think he's on this site). It was great to show him who we are and what we do. I'm sure he also had fun spending time exploring bits of Japanese culture, visiting Kyoto, Nagoya and Tokyo. Joel was able to take him to USS Tokyo, the largest used car auction in Japan. We took him to USS Nagoya on Friday and was able to show him what condition mini trucks come in from auction. It was a good experience for him to see what we do for him at auction.
Wow, I'm rambling! We're very enthusiastic about mini trucks. I guess that's obvious since we're going to take one around the world!
