I could use some help finding a good cross on a set of plugs for a 1992 U42T.

Scott, I got this cross reference with my truck from the people I bought it from. Plug: NGK#BKR-68, OIL filter: NAPA 1356 Hope this helps, although I cant be positive of accuracy.

Carry ST90 1981 - 1986 F8A 0,9 BPR5ES
bkr5ey fits most mitsu, etc replaces bpr5es

my truck is a 92 mitsu U42T
oil filter napa 1365
air filter K&N 33-2740
spark plugs NGK BKR6E-11 (i use these)
denso K20PR-V11
autolite 3923S

I tried to get my plugs out by grinding down the socket so it would fit. I couldnt get a hold of the plug...it just kept spinning around without grabbing the plug. Am I missing something?

That's all I can offer, maybe Dan or slimbad has some answers
The 550's call for BPR6ES which i found to be a 13/16 socket instead of the 5/8 that most are referring to. and it had to be thin walled to reach the plug. I've been using a snap-on socket with universal built on to it. The jdm's may be different...
