I am shopping for a mini truck and plan to widen my existing utility trailer to accomodate a mini truck and allow the doors to open for loading/unloading. I have a very beefy home built trailer that is just a little too narrow. What is the minimum trailer width most of you are comfortable with in trailering one of these? Was wondering if a standard 5ft width, which is a very common utility trailer width, would be adequate and still allow the door to open enough for the driver to exit the vehiclde without pulling a Bo Duke window escape?
Thanks,
Carl

How tall are the sides of your trailer? The rear most section of the door (farthest from the hinge) on my truck is 22 inches from the ground. The truck itself should fit the 5ft width.

Not sure exactly how high the sides are, but I do not think they are as high as 22 inches. Sounds like my plans will work just fine. Thanks for the input.

I think you would be better off going 6' wide. My trailer is 6' wide and the reason I say that is when I am loading my truck by myself it still feels like you are going to hit both sides of the trailer. If you go with 5' wide I would feel uneasy about loading it without the help of someone. Just something to think about it!

Mine with after market wheels/tires would not fit on a 5' trailer . The additional offset on the wheels made it about 64" wide. Had to go with a 6x12 trailer.

I have a larger trailer I use for landscape work. But when I drove it on there to take it home from the dealer I started laughing when I went to get out. The door swung right over the sides of the trailer and I got out.
I think if you feel okay pulling it on and it will fit, you should be able to get out of it.
