Ok, folks I bought a 91 Honda Acty. a few months ago and know very little about it.
Under the motor there is a cooler with fan that runs on and off when truck is warmed up. There is a steel mesh guard below it looks to be a skid plate.
Is this an oil cooler or what?
Also do you have to use a certain type of anti freeze?
I think this truck is an attack from what I have read on this site.
Thanks for any input

Hey, i have a 91 Acty 4wd (non Attack) and it has that fan as well, but i've never had mine turn on, mind you, i've never really checked. Its kinda neat to have it under there, I assume it just for when you are slow moving and hot weather, because the engine is tucked under the box, it does not get any airflow, this is probably just to aid the airflow. I may wire a switch to it so i can manually turn it on, should i deem it necessary.
If you have an Attack, i will have an Attack decal on the pass. side front of the truck usually, plus it will have 4 forward gears(instead of 5), and and 2 reverse gears and a diff lock button (in Japanese) on the dash.
Take care,

Mark, thanks for a reply,
The Honda I have is four speed with a diff light on dash. Also has a decal on console by gear shift that says UL and UR.
I cannot figure out how to get it shifted into this. There are no levers or buttons on shift handle. As for Attack Decal,it has camo on it.
Thanks

I pulled this off a old thread, it was from a guy who has a few attack acty's...
"The gear shifter is pretty much the same as the SDX.. except no 5th gear.. and to access UL/UR you lift up the shifter button which lets you into two extra gears to the far left."
Hope this works, let me know!
Mine is a regular SDX 5spd 4wd, but i wish i had the diff lock!

Is The Diff Lock Button Rite Beside The Bed Light , I Have One That When On Is Green But I Had No Idea What It Was For , Somebody Please Help. Why Cant We Find Some English Lit. On These Lil Trucks Somebody Has To Have It , If So Please Help Us Out..
The hoses are for pre heating the air in cold climents. Pre heated air will allow the car to warm up faster, and stop carb freezing.
The diff lock is that button beside the box light
Hows that for info on the run?

if your truck is carbureted i would consider bumping up your jets if you remove the exhaust. it will lessen the restriction and you can end up with a motor running lean. it should help out the top end power a little and you might notice a nominal loss of power on the bottom end. it really shouldn't hurt your fuel economy though and may, in fact, help a bit. if you take the muffler out i would keep the tail pipe to get the exhaust fumes and heat to exit behind the vehicle. a longer tail pipe will also improve the torque of the motor compared to a short one that stops at the cat.

you would need to pull the jets you have and see what size they are and buy a main jet that is the next size. that's how i've always done it.. or if you have a small feeler gauge to measure it, you can use the tiny numbered drill bits to carefully take it up to the next size. or if there is a good speed shop close to you take it there and see if they will do it for you and dial it all in.

Anyone know what the fuel pressure is on an HA4 truck? I need to know so we can get a fuel pump for it. Thanks all.

I can't say for sure but definitely a low pressure around 8-10 psi. Any low pressure inline fuel pump under 10psi should work. Any higher and the pressure would overcome the carb fuel needle and seat and flood the motor.

you can always buy an inexpensive regulator as well. if the fuel pump is blowing past the needle and seat you can turn down the pressure a bit.

The service manual I just recieved says .06-.10 kg/cm2. Conversion would be kg/cm2 X 14.22 = PSI or .853-1.422 PSI. Hope this helps.
