We have a 98 Honda mini truck that's having a problem with no acceleration. It starts and idles fine just no go. We had an inline fuel filter put in but didn't help. There's no one in our area of northeast Kansas that works on them that we know of. Any suggestions as to the problem and the fix or a referral to a mechanic would be greatly appreciated.:frustration:

many things it could be ..but the more likely culprit is the main jet or float not getting enough fuel.......I'll chant the mantra..."Seafoam"....pour some in the tank, drain the float bowl and try to run some seafoam directly into the carb..then let it idle a while revving it ocaisionally...if this helps at all you know the carb is dirty....the seafoam may or may not cure it...if it keeps running better then you need to keep feeding seafoam into the tank till it runs properly....if you run 1/3 can in a tank of fuel once every month or 2 you'll rarely ever get a carb problem...try that first before tearing into anything..while you're in there check all your vacuum lines for leaks...most carb problems are either deposits in the fuel system or vacuum

..I'll chant the mantra..."Seafoam"...

I finally got some sea foam
( picked it up in the usa for half the price )

wow
nice stuff

I thought my truck was running pretty good b4

Idle is so smooth now
lots more power

This is only a 1st treatment 1/3 can in the tank
nice

would a 98 still be carbed? try the seafoam, if it does nothing it could be a throttle position sensor

Good call stuff.....so rare to see Injected truck problems on here I didn't even take note of the year...my bad..You know the saying about assuming:o
Either way the seafoam can't hurt.dirty injectors could be the culprit.but not likely...on a fuel injected truck..I'd first look at as Stuff mentioned Throttle position sensor, fuel pressure regulator, map sensor...again vacuum controlled (except TPS)..also check the catalytic converter..possible partial clog

truckboy,
your deal reminded me of a guy that brought in his motorcycle one time. The guy said it was running great the other day. It turned out that he had friends over for the weekend and didnt want them smoking up all his weed. So he must have burned one and then stuffed it in his air box on his motorcycle and forgot about it. No AIR, No RUN.
WARNING-Kids please do not try this at home.

Odds are there is a clog in the frame.

Remove the lid from the air filter box then drive it and see. Likely your power will be back.
Notice the intake tube coming from the airbox up to the frame. It pulls air through the frame. It can get plugged up off roading or if rodents decide to make a home in there. Snake it out.
