This is likely a long shot, I realize most all CV axles operate in the same way with the locking pin. I however cannot for the life of me get the CV joint to lock into the shaft on the axle side. Either we cannot get it to lock correctly or it is getting pulled out due to the wheel being turn too far. Has anyone else happened to have this issue? It is terrible to have to tear it down every time.
I am not sure what you mean by "get the CV joint to lock into the shaft on the axle side" Wheel end of axle has a CV with splines and a nut . . trans end has a CV joint / splines going into differential, with a locking Circle clip. should not pull out when turning steering wheel from lock to lock, even if it wasn't in all the way. You may need to hit it with a brass hammer, to get it fully in and locked. hit the case of the CV joint, carfully. all the axles I've put in , it was pretty obvious when it wasn't in all the way. look at the other side. axle. it is usually harder to get them out then in. You might have to get us some pictures.
Thanks Bert, for some reason it was separating at the nuckle. I pulled it out of Trasfer completely and benched it... I think it is locked in now. came out 3x which I know should not happen
