[SOLVED] MiniCab Engine Fitting

Can anyone tell mw what the fitting in the enclosed picture is?
It is on my '92 MiniCab U42T with the 3G83 SIOHC engine.
It is on what appearst to me to rbe the thermostat housing, and I snapped it off accidentally.
