I saw plenty of deer this hunting season. The deer seemed to fare well through our very dry spell here in central Texas. I would say they were about 10 to 15 % off their wt. The ones that were killed had very little fat. After having about a week of 2" slow rain the winter grass came out and the oats we planted came up really well. That will get them through the winter and hopefully we will get some more rain with the fronts that come in the rest of winter. There were 2- 8 pts. 1- 6 pt. a 10 pt. and a 3- pt. shot off the place this year. Will still have a couple of 6 pts. a 8-pt. and a hand full of 4 pts. running around. With little hunting pressure around the ranch these past years they should make it till next season. Our buck to doe ratio continues to be out of wack. We really need to thin out the does but its hard shoot one when they still have yearlings hanging around. I guess I am getting soft and not near as mad at them these days as opposed to 20 years ago.
I took this 92 S83P Daihatsu with rear diff. lock, a 2 1/2" lift and 23" mud grips. What a great little truck. It will go any where I want it to go and then some.
I had one nephew screaming like a little girl several times and requested to go back to the house. After I mad him drive and get a little uncomfortable a few times then came through it, he said, it was fun and wanted to do it again. My other nephews want to go wide open.
After entertaining 6 nephews ages 3 to 12 (not one niece) I was ready to go back to Austin.
