Help, truck wont idle if I turn the lights on, bad battery? Was on the charger all night.

Sounds more like a bad alternator

Would the symptoms be similar? Why did you think alternator instead of battery?

I think its your alternator since when you load the system with your headlights the truck wont idle and die I presume. That's why I think its the alternator.

I guess what Im asking is, wouldnt a poor battery do the same thing?

Depends does it die when you drive it around or letting idle for a while?

Then its the battery but the alternator doesn't seem to do its job much.

yeah, I agree, the initial post didn't say anything about the truck not wanting to start, just not wanting to idle when the system was under load
