I have a mitsubishi minicab that will shift great from 1-4 gears. But when I go for 5th it doesn't even attempt to go in. It doesn't grind or anything. It feels like that gear is blocked off. Is there a restriction on these transmissions that won't allow the use of 5th gear? I saw a few threads where the left hand drive models have restrictions on gear selection but I wasn't aware of any on the right hand drive models.
Things like that have been done. I once owned a 1962 Ford that originally had a 3 spd Column mounted shift lever. When I finally sold it, I had changed it to a 5 speed overdrive from a 1980 Mustang with a floor shift which sported a shift knob, complete with the air shift parts, from a Fuller 13 spd transmission on top. I kinda wondered if that was the case...does anybody know the how to identify the transmission from stamping nos. etc?
Go to www.megazip.net/zapchasti-dlya-avtomobilej and see if you can find your vehicle, they have very good parts breakdowns w/pics. Don't know if this will help in your situation though. Fred
