I have a silver box behind the glove compartment that has a large plug with a lot of wires going to it. It is unplugged and has been since I got the truck. Everything works, except my running lights and dash background lights. Is this a CPU? How could it run if not plugged in? Is it part of the speed limiter? My truck is a right hand drive and imported. I thought only left hand US models had the speed limiter. Anybody got a clue?

Correction...its a black box in a silver metal bracket. I ran it last night plugged and unplugged with no apparent change to anything. It has a rotary dial on it too for some sort of adjustment.

Gotta be the flux capacitor - is your truck very slow ?

Not at all. Got out of it at 63 mph on the gps. Grim Reapers dont like speed...

Could it be the PCM? I saw a computer on one schematic. Just doesn't make sense that it doesn't affect how it runs.
