Hi, my 1991 Honda Acty 2wd clutch have a really funny problem.
In general all the five speed and reverse gears engage very smoothly when the truck is immobile or moving but sometime when the truck is immobile its really difficult to engage the gears and the reverse make a grinding sound if I force it. At that moment if I engage the first gear leave the clutch pedal floored and release the break the truck start moving slowly !
Its like if sometime the pressure plate do not fully release the disc.
I remake the adjustment by the book without success I even try to adjust the clutch cable more tight so the pressure plate is more compress but it just make the friction point higher.
I suspect bad tooths on the pressure plate or something wrong at the release bearing fork.
I check the forum without success is somebody have a similar problem or have a clue ?
Thanks !
Alexandre
Your problem is fairly normal and the clutch is probably ok...many manual transmissions do this....when you need reverse, put the clutch in and move the shifter into second or third gear(keep pedal depressed) then into reverse..should go without grinding..my miata does it sometimes as well![]()
