    Talking my mississippi mini

hey guys here a few picks i have of my 94 subaru sambar. as i stated in my introduction thread it was a "do it yourself" project. the only thing i did not have a hand in doing was welding a plate on the front to mount my winch. thanks for looking.

great paint work- so you came up with your own stencils? Did you use bedliner?

Thanks guys! No stencils, picked up a limb from a pecan tree and a leaf from a sweet gum and used those for a stencil. Laid down a black base coat then came back with green, tan, and brown and made various ambiguous shapes; then came in with my leaves again with the green, tan, and brown. Tried to over lay with the different colors. Bed liner yes, bought a one gallon can of herculiner from Wal-Mart for around 50 bucks, did that myself too. I did have to redo that because I didn't prep it right. As long a you prep everything as directed that stuff lasts like a pro job.

    Default herculiner

Yeah- I like that herculiner so much I finished the interior floor with it too. Beats those cheap floormats and sweeps right out. I used some haywire around and old paddle bit and my drill to mix the stuff. The paddle bit already has a hole in the end to attach the wire. Took about 20 minutes with the drill to get all rubber properly suspended in the paint.

No complaints about the durability, but the kids aren't too happy sliding around in the back on hard corners!

    Question Herculiner

Hey Minimurph, Did putting that Herculiner in the cab help quiet any road noise? Does anyone know if the herculiner can have a color added to it?
I'd like to line my interior also,Just don't know if i want it all black? And was afraid that if i just painted a color over the top that it would eventually wear off on high spots etc... Have NO idea of what they add to the Rhino Liner stuff to color it? Just wondered if it would work the same on the Herculiner?

Great lookin Truck and camo job ccrn! I think next time i do one,I'll go that route!

    Default herculiner

I wouldn't say that it reduced road noise. Of course that could be that Dingo doesn't have doors :Q

From what I've learned the best solution is the sound padding- the heavier the better. Old school stuff added hundreds of pounds to your hot rod- maybe this new stuff is lighter: http://www.secondskinaudio.com/produ...Insulation.php

As far as color- I've only seen herculiner in black, and I agree painting it won't work.

    Default herculiner on the floor

Hey Minihuntr- I just remembered that I did some extensive masking before doing the floor. I used hi-tack masking tape, and shielded the fender wells and around all the door jamb and where it tops out on the seats and under the dash. After it dried and I removed the tape and used flat black Krylon paint (scuff it up with 180 grit first) on the white areas which blended all the clean metal with the textured herculiner areas. There's a lot of places you just can't get that goop, so the flat black covers the corners etc.

Plus, if you like minitruckin' naked like I do, the herculiner is pretty hard on the legs when you're getting in and out over the wheel well.

    Default herculiner

Thanks for the link and the tips Murph! That stuff looks like it would be a lil easier to put down than the Dynomat stuff i used in my cars as a kid. This isn't a pressing issue(road noise),just thought it may help quiet it on hard surfaces. I'm sure I'll find something before long.

As for the "minitruckin naked" comment..."Dingo" was a reference to your truck wasn't it?...lol j/k I'm usually hunting "white tail" out of mine, not tryin to get mine sunburned!...lol

thats exactly where i got it kioti. i found a sales page in a magazine. got it for 50 bucks. works great, not sure how long it is supposed to last though. did have to put some extensions on the power wires so that i could reach the battery.

Any tags on it yet? I am a fellow, new Mississippi owner of a mini truck. I live in Wesson. I have my license plate, inspection sticker, and insurance on it and drive it all over, interstates and all.
