I tried to get my plugs out by grinding down the socket so it would fit. I couldnt get a hold of the plug...it just kept spinning around without grabbing the plug. Am I missing something?
Did you read the other "sticky" on socket http://www.minitrucktalk.com/showthread.php?t=558 That's all I can offer, maybe Dan or slimbad has some answers
The 550's call for BPR6ES which i found to be a 13/16 socket instead of the 5/8 that most are referring to. and it had to be thin walled to reach the plug. I've been using a snap-on socket with universal built on to it. The jdm's may be different...

Wires for plugs Hello all, I am wondering if the plug wires for a U42T will be the same as U42V? I bought some wires n plugs from a shop in Medicine Hat that thought the air filters were the same.... (they were not even close) so wondering about the wires n plugs I bought. I haven't put them in yet. wondering if anyone had any thoughts or insight. any info would be appreciated R
wires might be the same but according to the yokohama pdf here the plugs are not. I have a set for a U42T and not putting them in as my van is U42V If anyone needs some for a U42T let me know. R
Sorry missed the plug part of the last post heres your plugs in Iridium on amazon http://www.amazon.com/Denso-IXU22-Iridium-Spark-Plug/dp/B000M6URSC and the Denso list for minicab/bravo http://www.infodozer.com/catalogs/denso-j/automotive/search.php?model=MINICAB / BRAVO and for good measure the other vehicles that use the same plug http://www.infodozer.com/catalogs/denso-j/automotive/application.php?part=IXU22
Iridium has a tiny super hard electrode that supplies a sharp precise spark and is very resistant to fouling..they also last much longer than normal plugs..pricey,but seem to be worth it ..my Hijet loves them
plug gap I am trying to figure out the proper plug gap for my van. Is there a resource somewhere? Would my plugs be properly pregapped? I'll post the brand I got in an edit soon. I read .09mm is the default. any info would help Thanks R
Mits U42V plug gap rynow, I got your PM ref/plug gap. I decided to reply in open forum (to get QC from others). Your plugs "DCPR7E" are good, and a gap of 0.9mm shud be correct. On my 550cc (3G81) the manual says 0.7-0.8mm (that's .028-031in - for us south of the border). As far as the plugs coming pre-gapped - I always check them, a lot of times they are pretty good, but I have found some of them completely closed. If anyone else can add to this pls do. To the rest of the members here, I apologize for not contributing more lately. Hope this helps..........later, slim
