Are all the trucks governed and what are the top speeds of the trucks. Also, what have people customized to make them perform even better?

    top speed

i was told that some had a plate welded to the floor to stop you from using the upper gears . i havent seen one yet. last 1 i drove would do about 50 mph
before to motor sounded tight . they plan to put low profile tires on it. that should put top at about 65 .

They are capable of 70+ MPH. But by federal law they must be speed restricted to 25MPH or less.
Here is the federal code section...in case anyone is interested

ยง 85.1703 Application of section 216(2).
    (a) For the purpose of determining
the applicability of section 216(2), a vehicle
    which is self-propelled and capable
of transporting a person or persons
or any material or any permanently or
    temporarily affixed apparatus shall be
deemed a motor vehicle, unless any one
or more of the criteria set forth below
are met, in which case the vehicle shall
be deemed not a motor vehicle and excluded
from the operation of the Act:
    (1) The vehicle cannot exceed a maximum
speed of 25 miles per hour over
    level, paved surfaces; or
    (2) The vehicle lacks features customarily
    associated with safe and practical
street or highway use, such features
    including, but not being limited
to, a reverse gear (except in the case of
    motorcycles), a differential, or safety
features required by state and/or federal
    law; or
    (3) The vehicle exhibits features
which render its use on a street or
    highway unsafe, impractical, or highly
    unlikely, such features including, but
not being limited to, tracked road contact
means, an inordinate size, or features
    ordinarily associated with military
    combat or tactical vehicles such
    as armor and/or weaponry.
    (b) The Administrator will, from
time to time, publish in the FEDERAL
REGISTER a list of vehicles which have
been determined to be excluded. This
list will be in appendix VI of 40 CFR
    part 85.

Thanks for adding this. We need to make sure that everyone is using these trucks legally.

I wonder why mini trucks must be governed at 25mph while atv's don't?

EPA Regulations. They do not meet emission standards for high speed vehicles.

    performance

Try upsizing the exhaust and add a higher flow muffler. Also, install a K&N airbox. It is a good start and peps things up.

    And a quad does?
Interesting, i live in Canada, and anything 15 years or older can be imported and driven on the road, provided it meets all safety requirements. I had my Honda Acty up to 80km/h yesterday, and I'm going to take her on the highway tomorrow. Hope to hit 60-70mp/h.

  11. turbo

ive been waiting on a fuel injected truck to come through that i like. I purchased a hitachi ht06 turbocharger ( very small ) and will be mounting it on a fuel injected truck soon as i find one to my liking. i cant wait.... it will be bad arse. Ive also been on th hunt for a replacement muffler. I did detach th muffler once to see what it sounded like and needless to say i put it back on, may sound good with a freeer flowing muffler though.

As my Acty is street legal here in Manitoba, i can say i've had it up to 110KM/hr and there was still a bit left. now, in a headwind its a very different story...

    speed

having souped up Geo Metro's for the last 15 years ( 1.0 3 cyl Suzuki motors), i can say that they are just like any other motor . if you get more air & fuel. in and out , then you make more power. you can put a free flow exaust & make sure the air filter is clean & not set on the winter setting & drawing hot air . i found this on my Midget II.
site where they are racing minitrucks. bit hard to read. but you get the point.
