Oddly rockauto now carries Hijet struts...I just received the pair I ordered in the mail and they look like they will work for a Mitsubishi U42t as well. http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,carcode,922243,parttype,7584
i think these are for the hijet vans.. i dont think any 93 hijets came with a 993cc engine.. i wonder if the kyb reference number is the same
I can find no ref # for most hijet struts...I used a Piaggio Porter 4wd pick-up ref # The Porter is the old style hijet made under license by Piaggio in Italy..mostly the same vehicle except larger/heavier engines...my bet is they mostly upgraded the springs even for the very heavy all electric version... my hope is the struts designed for the Porter will be designed for a vehicle that is much heavier in standard form that the old Hijet..I'll let ya know as soon as I try them on..heres some Porter sales info http://www.piaggioporter.co.uk/
Do all Hijet models share the same front struts? also is there a difference in the standard hijet vs the 4x4.. Well, hopefully they work out.. thats a pretty good price for struts..
Since minitruckcentrals site and parts drawings went down ..it's pretty hard to find any info..heres the difference between a 2wd and 4wd on a Mits u42t Ok it's dark and snowing, and I can't find anything but my phone (too lazy to look actually)so the pics are a bit fuzzy...The first photo is a stock Mits front strut,2nd stock Daihatsu strut..then 2 of the new ones ..1 in my hand for size comparison..the universal KYB photo in the rockauto listing is just a generic strut pic
so im assuming the struts that you bought are most likely for the 4x4? those 2wd ones look like they would be more complicated. i have had both models and i still havent taken a strut off. I will need to do it eventually to install my new springs..
Not sure if the Daihatsu uses a different front strut for the 2wd vs 4wd as the Mitsubishi does...added photos to prev post so you can see the new ones
Lol I don't think it will matter..unless there is no pickup charge for out of country stock..They sent them from England..the FED-EX tracking began in Swindon UK..so I guess they have a contract to source odd parts from Europe, found some random stuff for my Mira on their site as well..The struts only took 5 days to my door including the weekend when they don't deliver.
They will fit the Daihatsu for sure..I haven't mounted them yet as I'm adapting them to my Mits. and have not had the chance this winter to do it
dlmitter Did your new struts work on your Daihatsu. I have a 1993 and I also need new struts or struts and springs.
I'm not installing them on my Hijet..i will be adapting them to my Mitsubishi...but yes they are 100% Daihatsu spec KYB struts, that will fit
85.00 s&h !! i dont know... think there going to be better then stock? there also on ebay.. cgi.ebay.com/Shock-Absorber-FRONT-RH-Daihatsu-Hijet-12-92-05-98-/130497725267?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1e62454353
Durr. Did another search of the forum, and the answer looks like 'yes'. http://www.minitrucktalk.com/showthread.php?p=65944 Cool!
so were theas struts a much better ride then the "oem" ones. i live in edmonton alberta and our roads suck... pot hole hell. i have a 91 hi-jet and the ride can get pretty bad. would like to upgrade my suspension but want to make sure this is better then what i have. thanks for any info you can give me
I have a 92 hi jet and put the kyb struts from Rockauto on it. I you are going to do any work at all, do the struts. Most of my driving is on gravel roads and pastures, so they get a workout. The ride is acceptable now.
Do these struts stop the bottoming out?? 1992 hijet jumbo I was pricing struts and springs to stop my bottomin out and there a lil expensive 449 for struts and 2 somthing for the better springs
the springs should only be around $30 each from jegs, and the struts are around $80 each....no more bottoming...if your struts aren't completely gone and you just want a firmer ride with no bottoming out ,you can get away with just doing the springs
I'm having a hard time finding them, could you put up A link if you get the chance!! Would be very well appriciated!!! Thanks -OutdoorsNs
search part # 633117,633118 on the main rockauto page at the top you will see flags, check them all..then select daihatsu....1992...hijet...suspension the page won't link aside from the main page
